VELFAC 400 takes the composite idea behind the 200 series and pushes it towards a much slimmer visible frame — the sort of proportions minimalist architecture demands.

Sightlines as the main brief

The narrow frame reads well alongside large fixed glazing and continuous sliding openings. It is a range specified most often on contemporary architect-led homes.

Thermal figures held in place

The narrower frame does not come at the cost of thermal performance — Uw values from 0.75 W/m²K are held through careful attention to the thermal break geometry.

Not for every project

VELFAC 400 rewards a considered design brief. On a like-for-like replacement of standard casements, the 200 series is usually the more sensible specification.

Editor's note. 5EC can put both VELFAC lines against a Schüco AWS 75.SI benchmark so the trade-offs are visible on paper before commissioning.

For readers researching options locally, 5EC's aluminium windows and 5EC's premium line are both worth reviewing — both are handled by 5EC, a Stevenage-based authorised supplier working across Hertfordshire.

Detailed technical documentation is available on the VELFAC 400 specification.
